Flash Settings

To add a flash file to a page or template, open the page or template and go to the Video Tab:

1.Select flash as the video type.

2.Select DVE as the Video Effect.

3.Browse to your swf file.

4.In the Misc tab enter specific page duration in SMPTE format (hh:mm:ss:ff).

All Audience systems support simple flash files, including flash files containing alpha channel.

Limitations and Special Considerations for Flash Files:

  • There is limited ACTIONscript support. For example, most flash "clocks" will display correctly, but flash that contains ACTIONscript that requires interaction or fetches data from remote sources may not work as expected.
  • Fonts in the flash file must be embedded.
  • The recommended minimum system requirement for flash playback is a 3.0GHz CPU with 3GB of RAM.
  • You cannot include a text field in the page that also points to a flash file in the Video Tab, such that the text would be overlaid on top of the flash file. However, to create the text overlay effect, create an overlapping zone and have the flash page target a text page with alpha background that would play over the flash file. This only works for non-web based systems.
  • Flash Files with Web Systems:
  • Flash files can be displayed full screen in full screen web systems by selecting the DVEZoom transition, direction=Up. Transition duration is ignored.
  • Text cannot be overlaid on top of flash files.
  • Flash files can be set to maintain their original aspect ratio, or be scaled to fit the zone. This is set in File > Audience.web Settings. This setting applies to all flash files.
  • See Configure Flash Files for details.
